It’s been about a year since I posted anything on this blog. I guess I can blame it on being busy at work and traveling or maybe it’s just depression for living in the Trump era. Every time Trump does something, I think this is the thing that will finally lose him the support he apparently retains. But it is just as he bragged,he could shoot somebody on Fifth Avenue and his supporters would not desert him. It is obvious to me and maybe to a lot of people that Putin has something on Trump. It doesn’t take a rocket scientest to figure out what. Trump is a failed businessman having gone through bankruptcy three or four times thus leaving major banks unwilling to loan him money for more failed ventures. I think it is obvious that he turned to laundering money for Russia, an illegal act that will undoubtedly be exposed by the Mueller investigation. Why else would Trump refuse to reveal his tax returns? Those returns will undoubtedly show more lies about his wealth
and a connection with Russia and illegal money laundering.
The conservative columnist George Will described Trump in a recent editorial as “a sad embarrassing wreck of a man who’s ongoing collusion with Russia is hiding in plain sight“
Anyone with eyes to see or ears to hear can see that Trump is scared to death of Russia. The idea that there is no collusion is just more baloney. His campaign is riddled with people with direct connections to Russia and the meetings that have been revealed show that there was obvious collusion with Russia to get Trump elected. I am not convinced that the Russians didn’t actually hack into the voting totals and that Trump wasn’t really elected at all. I spent Election Day poll watching for Hillary Clinton and pretty much spent the entire day on the web looking at the exit polls. Hillary was up by 12% in most of the key states. How could this possibly have turned the other way in an instant?
It is so depressing to look at the current polls. A recent one observed that 90% of Republicans still support trump. That means that almost every Republican friend I have still supports this idiot. How can people be so blind and so stupid?
He is doing damage to this country that will last for decades. He is appointing judges who are unqualified or so far to the right that things like education and social programs may never recover.
He has separated families, cut off services to vital research, ridiculed our allies in Europe and no one knows what he gave up in his private meeting with Putin. The very idea that he could talk to this thug for two hours with no one present makes me shiver.
If we don’t get out every vote that is out there this November to capture the House then we have no one to blame but ourselves. With a Democratic House we can stop 90% of this lunacy. I don’t think there is a chance to regain the Senate and certainly no chance to get 2/3 of the Senate that is needed to vote for impeachment. My prediction is that Mueller will indict Trumps son and son-in-law but they will be pardoned by Trump. I think Mueller will recommend impeachment but without 2/3 in the Senate that will never happen. The only hope we have is that by indicting his family Trump may cut a deal to step down to save them but I think he is such an egomaniac that he would let them rot in jail rather than give up his power. The question of whether state charges can be brought against Trumps family and thus prevent his ability to pardon them is up in the air . For any other president issuing those pardons would be a political death sentence but Trumps followers make no sense whatsoever and I don’t think anything he did would result in the kind of groundswell that led to Nixon‘s departure.
Thus we are stuck with this idiot for two more years. I am optimistic that he would have no chance to get reelected unless Russia is pulling the strings.
I’m not sure what I would do if Trump managed to get reelected to a second term. It is too horrible to contemplate.
Every time I see one of Trumps Republican henchmen in the Congress making excuses for him it makes me physically ill. You would think that every one of them would be voted out of office but between gerrymandering and stupid people who watch nothing but FOX News that is not going to happen.
When George Bush was reelected one of the talking heads on TV said I think this proves that the American public is too stupid to elect a president. Truer words were never spoken.
